Senior Year Timeline - THERE ARE MULTIPLE SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES THAT ARE COLLEGE SPECIFIC

  • September -  Apply to at least one college

    • Request transcript to be sent to your college - Write it down on the clipboard hanging outside the door. I will write the date that it is sent beside your name.

  • October - College Application Month; FAFSA opens up to apply for Financial Aid

  • November - Expect communication from college

  • December is the last real chance for you to take the ACT for scholarship purposes.

  • June 1 - Deadline to apply for AR Academic Challenge Scholarship

 

 

Steps for Applying for Financial Aid

 Step 1: FAFSA  https://fafsa.ed.gov/

Deadline: No real deadline, earlier the better because the colleges and Youniversal pull from this information

You could receive

  1. Pell Grant - based on financial need
  2. Loans - must pay back when no longer attending school
  3. Workstudy - work on college campus

 

Step 2:Youniversal  Application  https://www.ark.org/adhe_financialaid/Login.aspx

You could receive

  2. AR Challenge Scholarship
    1. You must make a 19 on the ACT in order to qualify for the AR Challenge Scholarship
    2. You may also score 79 on the Accuplacer test to qualify. We give that here at school.
  3. AR Futures Grant – Based on your college major and where you attend
  4. AR Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship - 32 ACT 3.5 GPA
